Whittlestone Breast Expresser:

More Comfortable, More Efficient, More Natural

Whittlestone Breast Expresser Breast PumpWhat is the Whittlestone Breast Expresser Breast Pump?  How does it work?

The Whittlestone Breast Expresser brings unmatched levels of comfort and performance. Unlike traditional breast pumps that use mechanized spikes to suction (which harshly tug the nipple), the Whittlestone Breast Expresser has a unique Express Cup with a soft, thin-walled liner that gently pulsates and massages the breasts to naturally stimulate letdown for more comfortable, efficient, and natural milk expression. Gentle compression, low vacuum and modern technology are the key elements that make the new Whittlestone Breast Expresser the product of choice for comfortable, effective breast milk expression.

Whittlestone Breast Expresser vs. Medela Pump In Style: Our own personal side-by-side comfort test

(Review by Sherry Bonelli, President of mommy's thinkin', inc.) I'm currently breastfeeding my twin girls, so breast pump comfort and performance are very important to me...As a test, I decided to do my own side-by-side comparison with the Whittlestone Breast Expresser and the Medela Pump In Style double electric breast pump I used when I pumped at work for 12 months with my first son. I pulled my Medela Pump In Style breast pump out of hibernation and set both of them up. What I noticed right away was the softness of the Whittlestone express cups -- VERY soft and comfy. (This pump was definitely designed with comfort in mind!) Instead of putting my breasts in hard, plastic cups like those found on traditional breast pumps, the Whittlestone's express cups actually felt very soft on my breasts.

When I turned the Whittlestone Breast Expresser on and looked inside the express cups, I knew immediately what Whittlestone meant by "massaging and pulsating". The soft liner inside the breast cup actually moves (pulsates) to massage your nipple area to promote letdown. (It was the most amazing thing, but very hard to describe. My husband and I just stood there looking at it saying, "Wow. That’s so cool!") Instead of using powerful -- and painful -- suction like other breast pumps, the Whittlestone express cup gently draws in your nipple, softly massages your nipple area, and then uses a low, gentle vacuum to express the milk.

Then I did the "comfort" test. I put one breast in the Whittlestone express cup and the other breast in the Medela Pump In Style breast pump cup and turned both pumps on. I was shocked, because the suction of the Medela breast pump cup actually hurt my nipple. It hurt so much that I almost stopped pumping. (I was surprised because I didn't really notice the discomfort during the 12 months that I used my Medela breast pump -- but then again, I didn't have anything else to compare it to and my nipples were probably desensitized at that time.) I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the Whittlestone felt on my breast and nipple.

I could tell right away that the massaging pulsating liner of the Whittlestone would definitely help encourage letdown and milk expression (it felt almost like a little "tickle" on my nipple.) It was the coolest thing! After 2 pumping sessions, I was getting the same amount of milk from the Whittlestone Breast Expresser as I did from the Medela -- and I didn't have any pain! (It may take your body a week or so to get used to the way the Expresser expresses your breast milk, so be patient.) The important thing to remember about the Whittlestone is that it offers more natural, less intrusive breast milk expression -- it's the ultimate in efficiency and comfort.

Another thing I noticed right away was the high quality of everything that's included with the Whittlestone Breast Expresser. You can tell that everything is top of the line (kind of like the Cadillac of breast pumps!) Whittlestone didn't skimp on a thing -- from the great looking carrying case right down to the convenient Velcro strap to wrap up the power cord (no more fumbling for a twist-tie!) Top of the line all the way...

Cleaning is pretty simple: during the day, you can do a quick wash where you rinse the express cup in hot, soapy water. The quick wash is very fast and simple. When you want a more thorough cleaning, take the express cup apart and do a more thorough cleaning in hot water with gentle soap. You can put the parts in the dishwasher, but Whittlestone recommends that you don't because dishwashers are very harsh. (The Whittlestone Breast Expresser is supplied with an instructional video and manual showing how to disassemble, clean, reassemble and use.)

To say the least, I was extremely impressed with the Whittlestone Breast Expresser. Gentle compression, low vacuum and modern technology are the key elements that make the new Whittlestone Breast Expresser the product of choice for comfortable, effective breast milk expression.

The Whittlestone Breast Expresser represents a true innovation in the technology of breastfeeding support. Buy your Whittlestone Breast Expresser today!
