The Nursing Nest and the “Side Lying” Position

Many babies suffer from acid reflux. Although the makers of the Nursing Nest Breastfeeding Pillow support the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations on "back to sleep" and putting their babies to sleep on their back, there are some circumstances that mothers face, where "back to sleep" could pose a threat to the safety of her baby. Acid reflux is one of those problems. This is particularly problematic with preemies that may be susceptible to this aggravation and mothers, after discussion with their baby’s physician, may choose to have their baby sleep in a side position.

Preventing "flathead" is another reason why many mothers make a personal choice – or in conjunction with their baby’s pediatrician’s advice -- to have their infants sleep on their sides.
